When we
dream, we create a world of our own.
Mr. Nand Kishore
Chaudhary, Trustee of Jaipur Rugs Foundation, believes
in eliminating the root of inequalities in the society.
By giving courage and support to these Indian rural
weavers, we empower them to create their own world where
their dreams are lived. Moving into the future, we have
thought of a dwelling that can undertake a huge
responsibility of training and supporting these rural
weavers.
By building more common facility centers, we can develop
these micro-producers into entrepreneurs. A common
facility center is a nucleus or a production hub where
these weavers and artisans can be trained on carpet
weaving skills, provided proper shelter, food, clothing,
briefed on other welfare programmes relating to health,
sanitation, HIV, finances etc.
To achieve this, a cluster will be formed on the basis
of nearby areas or self help groups. The common facility
center will act as a hub for storing raw materials
desired by the weavers and finished goods created by
them. The administration and training can then be
undertaken by a group of experienced local artisans.
This will not only develop their skills but also assist
them to improve their standard of living through
sustained earnings.
This hub not
only acts like a storage and training center but with
time it can also evolve as a provider of other welfare
programs such as anti-tobacco and anti- alcoholism
campaigns, activities to educate moral values, regular
literacy classes for illiterate self help group members,
literacy classes for non-school going children and also
linking them up with local NGOs, camps on HIV/AIDS- RTIs
and STDs, surgical camps, drinking water facilities well
and desalting of ponds and wells etc. |
