Graduating
with time, Jaipur Rugs Foundation worked on various
projects those touched lives belonging to different
regions at various levels. A brief view of the
initiatives can be stated as under:
2004
Capacity Building Programs in almost 12 districts of
Rajasthan aimed at enhancing the earnings of rural
weavers and artisans. This impacted at least 200
families and 12000 weavers. Cluster development projects
were undertaken in areas like Viratnagar, Jaipur,
Sainthal and Dausa.
2005
Mobilization Campaigns were held across 30 villages in Alwar district of Rajasthan. This year was dominated by
a lot of activities in the Thanagazi village. Starting
with looms distribution, training modules and formation
of distinct self-help groups, the activities geared up in terms of educating the weavers on new health
schemes and insurance policies by the government. These
activities were also carried in Gujarat.
2006
Apart from carpet weaving training, a loom bank was
set-up to suffice the requirements of looms in villages
targeted all across India, rural business hubs projects
and participation in many trade fairs and exhibitions
had been undertaken.
2007
Training Programme in Carpet Weaving activity was
conducted at Ratangarh, Churu District (RMoL). Cluster
Development proposal for Ratangarh, Churu District was
prepared for DPIP and Urmul trust. National Research
Development Council funded project on Skill & Design
Development Training for carpet weaving unit at Jaluki
Township, Nagaland was completed.
2008
Rural Business Hubs on Carpets and Rugs is a flagship
programme launched in collaboration with the Ministry of
Panchayati Raj in the areas of 24 South Paragana (West
Bengal), Deogarh (Jharkhand) and Sonabadra (Uttar
Pradesh). Carpet Weaving Cluster Development Programme
completed in the West Kameng Distict of Arunachal
Pradesh. Short term skill training programme conducted
for carpet finishers in 4 villages of Churu. Carpet
Cluster development project was started in Thanagazi
district, Alwar.
2009
National Research Development Council funded project on
Computer Aided Design Training for carpet weaving unit
at Jaluki Township, Nagaland was completed. Carpet
Weaving-Assistance given to Rural Women in Non-Farm
Development in Aoyimkum, Dimapur, Nagaland. Short term
skill training programme was conducted for carpet
finishers in Amber, Jaipur District attended by 50
participants. Skill up gradation training was conducted
for 50 SC trainees in Badijodi village, Shahpura.
Carpet-Weaving Cluster Development Project Proposal for
Ratangarh, Churu was prepared for Development
Corporation.
