When women in rural villages are not given a choice to study after marriage, for Padma, marriage opened up new doors of opportunities. It is through her in-laws and husband, Padma realised how important education is for a child. So, at the age of 23 with the help of her elder son and brother-in-law, Padma completed her primary education.
There was no looking back for her after that. She unlearned and sent her children to study and pursue their dreams. Today Padma is a spinner as well as an Anganwadi worker. Her children look up to her with pride and respect.
Often we say life is all about learning. But padma adds to that by saying, “We are on a lifelong journey of learning, unlearning and relearning.”
